Winter sun on the Costa Blanca
Tired of cold and wet weather? The Costa Blanca offers you a perfect environment in winter.
Why not come to the Costa Blanca less than two hours’ flight from the U.K, or other northern European countries where warm winter sunshine and a cordially welcome await you. It might even be possible to sit on your terrace having breakfast on New Year´s Day enjoying the comfortable temperature.
For all sport lovers, it´s the ideal season for hiking in the mountains with splendid views over the Mediterranean Sea and the Sierras, biking up and down the coast, or playing golf on well-known golf courses such as “La Sella” near Denia or “Oliva Nova” in Oliva. Also a long walk on the quiet beach in Denia is great fun. You can sail around the rugged coastline with plenty of little bays or make a trip by ferry to Ibiza. Play a game of tennis under the palm trees, and so much more...
However, if you do feel the pull for some snow coupled with winter sports then you can make a short four-hour trip to the Sierra Nevada in Granada. There you can enjoy skiing till the end of February or beginning of March.
A fine selection of restaurants invite you to enjoy traditional Spanish dishes such as tapas and paella, or more contemporary cuisine, washed down with excellent wines from award winning local vineyards. A perfect way to end your day’s activities. There are always local events to enjoy in the surrounding villages such as fiestas or winter markets which have something to offer for every taste.
During the festive period there are some wonderful concerts and celebrations to enjoy. Why not come along to a traditional Spanish celebration on the sixth of January when we celebrate the arrival of the 3 Kings.
If you are a nature lover, come and enjoy the changing seasons beginning in the middle of January when the almond trees begin blossoming releasing their fragrance and, in the middle of March, the orange trees blossom. If you enjoy photography, you will find some stunning scenery along the rugged coastline with mountainous and sea views as far reaching as Ibiza.
Valencia, the third largest city in Spain, an hour by car, is a must see with its historic old town, great museums, opera and sailing events. Alicante, the provincial capital is equi- distant, with a well-known beach promenade and almost 10 km of stunning sandy beaches. Within these cities, you will find something to cater for all tastes ensuring a thoroughly enjoyable experience for all.
The “fallas” in Valencia in mid-March is the second largest Fiesta in Spain and the smaller “fallas” in Denia, mid-March, is equally great fun, where you can stroll from the harbor through the old town to enjoy the fiesta.
